Hi, I'm Kristin. Welcome!
I love the Sun, the Moon, and the stars. And lilacs, roses, dahlias, and daisies. Magic of Grace is my little garden where I guide and inspire others to let their own light shine and bloom with grace.
Bringing out the beauty and brilliance in others makes me really happy. Happy like homemade lemonade. Happy like a perfect summer day. Especially when doing what lights me up helps you light up the world.
Magic of Grace provides online mentoring through courses and private sessions for fellow journey walkers who want to live a life that's fulfilling, not just full. I help them return home to their hearts and follow the path that love is pointing out to them, one breath at a time.
My work and world are all about
finding meaning within
growing in trust
nurturing a sense of wonder and awe
cultivating inner joy
How it all began...
I have a background in feminist studies and creative writing. One taught me critical thinking and expanded my horizons, the other taught me authentic self-expression and expanded my heart. One made me a deeper thinker, and the other made me a deeper person.
I was studying for my master’s degree in Berlin when I signed up for my first spoken word workshop (with the talented Katinka Kraft). I remember feeling terrified of going, and writing “I don’t know what to write” over and over until little by little my heart started to open and words began to pour out of me and onto the page. It was such a good feeling.
By the time I was writing my master’s thesis, I was also writing morning pages (a daily writing practice proposed by Julia Cameron) and growing increasingly interested in what was in my heart rather than in my head. I remember one of my early spiritual mentors asking me what my heart wanted. I couldn’t tell her because I didn’t know. And I was wondering, "How can I 'follow my heart’ if I myself am unable to hear what my heart is saying?"
Creative writing was a lifeline for me. More than anything, it meant contacting what was hidden within. And soon enough, it led me to mindfulness and meditation and the spiritual dimension of creativity and of life itself. I was fortunate to travel to the US several times where most of my “spiritual education” took place and life in general started to make more sense to me.
Growing my wings back
I left university with a degree in Gender Studies and a dream to use my creative desires and intuitive gifts to make a positive change in the world. I just didn’t know how. Thanks to some very kind people, I made it through a very dark period in my life. But as dark as it was, the darkness was rich. Rich like the night sky. Rich like the mud from which a lotus flower grows.
Making friends with uncertainty and self-doubt, I learned that I can hold my body and guide my mind, embracing them both. I learned that my thoughts can help or hurt depending on the voice I listen to. I learned that attention is a form of love. I learned that when I come to rest, whatever I sit with comes to rest too. And I wanted to share and teach what I had learned.
And so, Magic of Grace was born.
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
